The Medusa Plot is the first book of the series Cahills Vs. Vespers which is a sequel series to the series The 39 Clues. The book was written by Gordan Korman, but the series is written by a team of authors.
This book starts out with several members of the Cahill family getting kidnapped, including an attempt on Amy and Dan Cahill. Amy and Dan escaped, but soon find out that several members of their family and others they love have been kidnapped, including their gaurdians Nellie and Fiske. They receive a message from a Vesper One telling them that there is a task they need to accomplish or one of the hostages will die. Vesper One is a member of a secret evil organization known as the Vespers that Amy and Dan have come into contact with once before when they were retrieving a family ring that their aunt Grace had left for them. They had barely managed to escape with their lives, and Amy felt sure that that was not the last time they would cross with the Vespers. They knew that the Vespers meant business, so they had to do what they asked.
What were they asked to do? Deliver a famous painting that was known to be held in one the highest security art museums in the world. Amy and Dan call on other members of the Cahill family to help them with their mission in order to save the lives of those they love. But there's a time limit, and they run into one problem after another.
This book is an easy read, but also very engaging. The plot is unique and exciting and keeps the reader on their toes. Unexpected things happen, and just when you think you've figured it out, something happens that throws all your ideas out the window. It's a fun read.
